Your logic is WAY off, but your conclusion is correct.
It has nothing to do with recouping anything from GT5. GT5 made Sony and PD money hand over fist. GT5 took 60 million bucks to develop, they made that money back just on GT5:Prologue. Every copy of the full GT5 game was profit.
GT6 will be on PS3 not only because of install base, but also to maximize the technology they put so many years of work into, meaning the mastering of the PS3&...
Square is obviously taking somewhat of a chance making A Realm Reborn subscription based. Any game would be. As the article points out, even the biggest subscription game is steadily losing subscribers......but I think that's just game fatigue. Even the most popular of things die out eventually. And the game everyone was excited for: The Old Republic ended up being basically a failure and had to go free2play, but was that because people weren't willing to pay the subscription, or was ...
Well fair enough, but did you notice the link between all the examples of bad DLC you pointed out? CAPCOM. Everyone KNOWS that they're pulling the con game of ripping out and selling content developed durring the main game's dev cycle. And once they got caught, did they change? No.....they're still doing it, but now they're trying to be more carefull to pull as much of the content off the disc as possible so they can't get called out for it anymore......and they're STI...
As a fighting game fan I LOVE DLC characters. Deadlines HAVE to be met for games....which limits roster size, especially in these days with all the work and countless hours that has to go into getting games "right". So DLC lets developers continue adding characters (or any content for any other kind of game) to let players expend the games they already know they love for a few bucks here and there.
The only other option is the games just come out as-is and never get...
One I know of is Guardians of Middle-Earth. The $15 season pass includes the first set of DLC characters, but characters are still coming out that aren't included which have to be bought seperately.
Didn't it also happen with one of the big shooters? Like CoD or BF3? I thought there was a season pass or premium pass deal on one of them that included a certain number of DLCs, then when another pack came out beyond those included packs, people got pissed because they ha...
I personally think you're being unfair, and in fact lying just a little bit. Because it doesn't tell you that it's only for characters "UPON BUYING IT", it tells you clearly BEFORE you buy it, you don't even have to click on the full description to see it's for characters only (on PSN, I don't know about on Live). So since you're lying about that little fact to try and make a point, you're being unfair, and for me, totally discrediting your opinion. ...
This gen, for times played through, it was Dragon Age Origins for me as well. I played through completely 4 times. I'll never get rid of it unless I ever get rid of my PS3, so I'm sure I'll play it again.
Edit- Actually, I also played through Heavy Rain 4 full times, and also on the last runs I did partial playthroughs multiple times from various points to see all the ending segments.
For actual hours put in this gen it's Gran Turismo 5. I'...
Hell yeah. For me, Dragon Age Origins is one of the best RPGs of all time. All the DLC was great too aside from the bugs in Awakenings, well worth the $90 to get it all Day 1 like I did, though I admit I really wish I had the will to hold off and I could have gotten everything for $40.....that's alot less than $150+. I guess the Blood Dragon Armor was worth $110..........right?........
DA2 did one thing right, it improved combat with the homing basic attack. But every oth...
Must........See........Video.. .....!!!
This guy looks like he's going to be BANANAS to play.
Mega Man Powered Up was actually REALLY good, assuming of course you think Mega Man 1 was good. It was an exact recreation basically of MM1 with 3-D assests and story elements added, gameplay was still 2-D though obviously. Some other extras added as well. Everything they added made it better too, none of it felt tacked on to cash in.
Another great feature it had was a level creator, and you could share your levels online. IMO it's one of the best PSP games ever.

OK, that's one possible place to pre-order this off the list. A digital wallpaper? LOL wow.....do these companies really think gamers care about digital wallpapers? I've been telling Sony about this BS on the Blog too with wall-papers for pre-ordering......people pre-order for awesome/exclusive in-game stuff most of the time. Not wallpapers.
Now to wait and see what Gamestop, Best Buy, WalMart or ToysR'Us offer for pre-ordering. Whichever gives me the coolest in-g...
Even as a HUGE MK fan, I would prefer they kept MK characters out of this. AT least for the Season Pass DLC. If they want to add more after that, fine. But there are so many great DC characters that could work well in this game, and since this is one of the only truly great DC based games ever, I really want them to put in as many of those characters as they can.
Fighting game devs have had a bad habit of wasting precious roster spaces this gen. They're almost all guilty...
No, Swamp Thing. M Rated Vertigo Version.
I don't think the people who will buy this, console gamers who've waited a LONG time for a really good game in this genre.....which there have been VERY few of this gen, need any convincing. Diablo showing back up on consoles has been LONG overdue since imo console are a better platform for the genre.
I'm waiting on pre-ordering though. The exp helm is nice, but I would like some better, more unique, more powerfull in-game items for pre-ordering. This sounds like ...
How is that even Cote d'Azure?
Cote d'Azure is Monaco, and THAT is NOT Monaco. It looks more like the freeways around Monaco, but that is NOT the town/village of Cote d'Azure. There's not a single turn from Monaco on that track.
@common sense
I'm aware PCars isn't finished, but I'm also aware that aside from environmental stuff to make the tracks look prettier, the tracks are pretty much what they are. I'm sure they could still make some adjustments to them if they really wanted to....and they may, but there's no real guarantee on that. The tracks all seem pretty complete, again....aside from decorations.
As for your critiques of GT5, ok fair enough. But I would a...
@mcstorm
Not it hasn't been confirmed for PS4/720. In fact it's kinda been confirmed that they havn't really started development on those versions outside of just the general work being done on the game which would be applied to all versions.
I think it was just yesterday or the day before that SMS publicly said that while they are now "officially a PS4 developer", they are seeking more investors again to be able to fund a possible PS4 v...
It may be you with the "fan-a-vision, or perhaps it's anti-fan-a-vision, where you either hate GT or hate Sony, or hate consoles and are therefore unwilling to give a console racing sim it's due. Or maybe it's just that you just don't really know what you're talking about when it comes to sim racing games compared to people who are really into the genre and do know what they're talking about.
The fact is, that when real racing sim fans who know wh...
They've shown plenty of PS3 in-game shots dude. In terms of models and textures, it looks pretty much the same. The only noticable differences that stood out to me was obviously less post processing on the foliage, and that hazy/mist stuff adding ambiance in all the really nice PC shots wasn't there.
Not what I would describe as equal to low-med on PC. It looks closer to strong med-high without the best RAM sucking post processing effects.
As long as ...
Nice little write up aside from a couple wrong facts (where is there an entire F1 season? lol), but I must say I was expecting more from a site that is typically more long winded. I like long well written articles, and if you're doing a retrospective on GT5....with everything that's happened, been added or changed in the game's lifetime, I was really expecting to spend like an hour reading this article I was about to click on.
They don't get into the game'...
